These May events have kicked off the summer season of activities in Ouray County. For nearly 20 years the local Ridgway Ouray Community Council has organized a county-wide yard sale to help some people get rid of their stuff, for other people to add to their stuff, and most importantly, to catch up socially with each other. On May 19th, roughly 250 locals were able to pick and choose from almost 50 “vendors” on a gorgeous western Colorado spring day. Several members also attended the Love Your Valley Fest. This year’s annual Love Your Valley, Ridgway’s "Rite of Spring” for the last 22, years hosted 16 micro breweries from around Colorado. Over 600 people (and numerous canine companions!) enjoyed food, fun, frolic, and music as well as an outstanding variety of Colorado beers. And, as usual for Springtime in the Rockies, Mother Nature brought a sunny day with delightful temperatures. Alpenglow Members are discovering that it will be a full summer of balancing building a new cohousing community and enjoying all the reasons we live here! Most recently the commonhouse designs have been the focus of our work together, along with meeting all of the people coming to town to learn more about Alpenglow.
